Open That Bottle Night - An opportunity to open a bottle of wine

Open That Bottle Night is celebrated on the last Saturday in February every year, i.e. this year on February 25. This day was created to ensure that those fine bottles of wine you have left for a special occasion are opened on this very day. Did you know that some people have a fear of wine called oenophobia? Not you, we hope!

THE HISTORY OF OPENING THAT BOTTLE OF THE NIGHT

Wine is one of the most popular alcoholic beverages in the world. On Open That Bottle Night, people all over the world release the bottles they've been saving for special occasions. They don't have to be old wine bottles; even that bottle of wine you bought in the morning and prepared for the evening is also perfectly fine! Open That Bottle Night was invented by two journalists ("Tasting" columnists) at "The Wall Street Journal", Dorothy J. Gaither and John Bretcher, a husband and wife team. This event was created with the main goal of motivating people to reconnect with each other over a bottle of wine and create beautiful memories. There's a special way to celebrate Open That Bottle Night the best way, nationaltoday.com recommends. It all starts with choosing that special wine you've been saving for a special occasion. Now invite your friends and family to your home or an outdoor picnic spot. That's it, now all you have to do is open that wine and share it with them. Talk and share long forgotten precious memories from your life and enjoy your dinner. Since its inauguration in 2000, Open That Bottle Night has become a global phenomenon and is celebrated every year on the last Saturday in February, growing in popularity every year. Good wine is consumed, but good wine is made to share with others. Good wine enjoys aging, but if you have a bottle at home that you have been keeping for a while, maybe now is the time to open it, because in ten years it may not be suitable for consumption.

We decided on Maurer SOTT – Pinot Noir, 2015 - a naturally sweet red wine, made from dehydrated berries. During aging in barrels, we soaked more than twenty different medicinal plants. SOTT is produced based on a 2000-year-old tradition.

If you don't have anything on the shelf, we can recommend at least 5 wines on the prinodrovino.rs webshop, which are already old enough to brighten your day. Enjoy!

Quinta de Saes Reserva EP 2015 - wine from Portugal, from grape varieties: 70% Red blend, 15% Touriga Naçional, 15% Alfrocheiro, aged 18-24 months in French barrels.

Traminer - Vinarije Maurer - The color of the Traminer esencija is golden, as if there is liquid gold in the bottle. It was matured in an oak barrel for three years and then bottled. Vintage 2015. It has 241g of natural sugar in addition to 11 percent alcohol. Esencija that is unique on the Serbian and not the world market.

Gmitar – Prokupac from Vujić winery (Župa, Serbia). Ruby color, with aromas of wild raspberries, ripe cherries, blueberries, currants with complex tannins and a long aftertaste. Spontaneous fermentation, maceration for 22 days. Bottling is done without a pump and filtration.

Makana – Bikicki Winery – 2017 Deep, amber color. It has a rich aroma that starts with dried grapes, then through honey notes, leather apple, apricot jam and candied orange it reaches noble mineral notes. Moderately sweet and extremely fresh, vibrant on the tongue, with a layered and complex taste. In the finish intertwine the taste of citruses, noble bitterness, minerality and the taste of Gerbeaud cooky.

Maximianvs – Winery Imperator – 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec. The wine is a lively ruby red color with moderate viscosity. The smell is of medium intensity, developed and extremely fruity with ripe cherries and plums with hints of spices and earthy tones. Well balanced and fresh with hints of licorice, dark chocolate and honey. The body is moderately full with concrete and juicy tannins and perfectly integrated wood that hints at a touch of vanilla in the finish with cherries and chocolate tones. Gastronomic advice: red meat, mature cheeses, Serbian meze, fatty fish.
